Just around the corner from my house is a house in foreclosure that I'm thinking about purchasing (with the inital help from my parents but with me making the payments). It's no Magnolia Plantation, but it has 2.5 acres, completely fenced, with plenty of room for a large garden and some livestock. The house itself needs a little repair but I figure that would be a good way to spend my free time for the next 2 and half years until I'm 18. Besides how many 15 year olds can say they own their own house! And hopefully by the time I'm 18, it will be paid off or atleast close to it!
This is my truck. I finished paying for it 2 years ago and I'm looking forward to not having a truck payment when I turn 16. My parents taught me good stewardship to which I am very thankful. Thanks mom and dad.
I'm also excited to start working with my dad in his new business next month. He will still be firefighting on the 24\48 shift but on his days off we will be working together on his new entreprenuerial adventure. This is cool because it means that I only have to do school every third day! Yeah! But it's also cool because I will be learning A LOT of new trades that will help me in a failing economy.
Speaking of a failing economy...when I'm not doing school, or remodling my house, or working with my dad on his new business...my family will be working on our new farm raising chickens, dairy cows, goats, steer, hogs, planting a very large garden, and MANY other things to help us become more self-sufficient during the coming economic crisis. Here's a picture of our first fig tree!
Well that's it! That's my hopeful future plans. I pray God will continue to bless them.

WOW Lane
Wonderful post! It is a real encouragement to see you planning your future wisely...and so young. It gives me hope that there are indeed wise young people out there in our generation! Keep up the great work, but most of all, keep the Lord first!
Praying for all your endeavors,
Anna :)
It looks like fun! And a lot of work. I am know you can pull it off! Go for it! :) I hope the Lord blesses your endeavors! See you soon, Lord willing!

Great post, Lane!
It's so important to start preparing for your future while you're young, like you are doing! I know of far too many young men who have had no vision for their lives and ended up wasting most of their youth/ young adult years. Preparing pays off 100-fold later in life!
I have had to learn the hard way that the habits you establish early on stick with you for a looong time! :) Like hard work... And getting up early (or late! haha)...
I second Anna when she said, "It is a real encouragement to see you planning your future wisely."
It is! :D
Keep up the good work!

See you tomorrow!
Awesome Lane! I am very proud of you and your dreams. I am one of those” Young Men” Lauren spoke of, and let me tell you once you lose the time God has given you He never gives it back.
You are wise to listen and follow your parent’s advice and to heed their warnings. If I had listened and done that I would be in a much happier situation and probably have the woman of my dreams with me today. So take it from someone who knows all to well of the consequences of foolish decisions in youth despite the teachings of a Godly father.
The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down, for the Lord upholdeth him with His hand. Psalms 37: 23-26
Hey Lane
great post man, in the words of John Wesley "Do not seek after a ministry, but anticipate the fruits of a disciplined life" I see you already have the heart and the Godly wisdom that has been taught to you by your parents. Keep it up man my prayers are with you in everything you do.
your friend and brother in Christ
Joel
